How to make a smoothie bowl
Smoothies are a staple on the health community. But if you are anything like me smoothies can leave you wanting. I will drink ,y smoothies sometimes and feel like I ate nothing. So what is the best way to get a nutrient packed smoothie in but feel full afterward?
A SMOOTHIE BOWL!
So what makes a smoothie bowl different then a regular smoothie?
A smoothie bowl, just as its name suggests, you eat in a bowl with a spoon. This slows down the consumption process and makes you actually spend time chewing making you feel fuller and more satisfied in the end.
Smoothie bowls leave room for toppings. Unlike your normal smoothie or shake that you drink through a straw, smoothie bowls give you the freedom to top them with things like granola, fruits, veggies, seeds.
Smoothie bowls have texture. I can not even begin to tell you the amount of people that I have worked with on their nutrition that have told me they can not incorperate smoothies into their diet because of the lack of texture. If this is the case for you, then you are the perfect canidate to try a smoothie bowl! the added food at the top of a smoothie bowl creates that texture that you need.

Spoon…duh lol
Frozen Fruits and I also will throw in frozen spinach or veggies too for that extra nutrition
Toppings! This can be fresh fruit, nuts and seeds, honey, maple syrup, granola…whatever sounds good!
How to make a smoothie bowl
Throw whatever fruits and veggies you feel like blending together. I suggest sticking to a theme, so a berry bowl or a tropical fruit bowl…if you mix fruit types it doesn’t turn out as good. You can do frozen or fresh it doesn’t matter. Fresh is best if you are wanting a more savory bowl and frozen is best for a sweeter treat.
***Expert tip- For extra nutrition, especially with kids, it is easy to hide a little spinach and kale in your fruit mix!
Add a liquid to the blender. If you add a milk or nut milk you will get a creamier smoothie bowl, but if you are looking to save on calories you can just add water
Add any add ins to the smoothie part. I like to add in a touch of vanilla, oats, chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax seeds mostly.
Mix until contents are well blended with no chunks and pour into bowl.
Add toppings!! This is the fun part. Get crazy with it! You can decorate the bowl to look absolutely stunning. Add in things like
-Avocado
-Sliced Fruits or Berries
-Honey
-Granola
-Chia Seeds
-Salted sunflower seeds and/or salted pepitas (my fav topping)
***Expert tip- If you are making a bowl from frozen fruits you can add honey and chia seeds to the top and it will harden up into a delicious topping!
There you have it, it’s as simple as that! Smoothie bowls are a great way to have fun making a quick and delicious treat!
